Markets & Clients

An increasing number of Merchants / Sellers / Suppliers in consumer sales and credit are reaping the benefits, financial and operational, that mobile payments can bring to organizations that send accounts regularly to consumers or provide any form of consumer credit.

Whether an organization is a fixed or mobile telecoms operator, an energy supplier, a mail order business, a retailer with a store card or even a bank issuing credit cards, the common theme is that consumers are sent accounts regularly. In some cases the entire account must be paid and in others, partial account payment is desired. In all cases, the key requirement is that the customer pay the appropriate amount – and on time.

The objective of minimizing disputes and reducing the cost of payment processing has driven many Merchants / Sellers / Suppliers to offer compelling customer incentives to agree to debit orders, from bank accounts. However, only a minority of customers elect to relinquish control of the payment timing and use methods to pay accounts that remain under their direct control. These methods vary from a cheque in the mail, to a visit to a bank branch or post office; from on-line payments to telephone banking or payment by phone using a card.

The MoPay service does not require any effort on the part of the person paying – no writing of cheques and their posting or queing to make the payment, nor frustrating and insecure online transfers. Thus, enhanced ease of payment, security and costs savings for all concerned.

So, no more ‘cheque is in the post’ or chasing up bounced debit orders or hassles to cancel debit orders.
